Spanish
At Phoenix Academy, the Spanish curriculum is designed to inspire and engage students in acquiring a modern foreign language, equipping them with the tools to navigate an increasingly global society. By learning Spanish, students gain the ability to communicate in another language and develop cultural awareness and respect for diverse communities.
Starting in Reception and continuing through Year 6, students progressively build their knowledge of the Spanish language. Early lessons focus on essential topics such as greetings and numbers, which form the foundation for more advanced topics like describing the weather, discussing family, and discussing daily routines in Key Stage 2. Each stage of the curriculum integrates listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities, ensuring a comprehensive approach to language learning.
Phoenix Academy's values are embedded in the Spanish curriculum, reflecting our dedication to fostering students' social and academic growth. Students develop confidence in using a second language through interactive lessons that include stories, songs, and cultural exploration. We aim to spark a lifelong interest in languages while providing them with the skills necessary to thrive in a multicultural world.
