Computing
At Phoenix Academy, our computing curriculum is designed to provide students with the critical skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an increasingly technological world. We are committed to ensuring that all learners develop not only digital literacy but also the creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that are fundamental to 21st-century learning.
From the Early Years through to Year 6, we follow a carefully mapped progression that enables students to build on prior knowledge and advance their understanding of key concepts such as coding, multimedia use, and e-safety. We aim to equip students with the ability to engage confidently and thoughtfully with technology, promoting responsible and creative use.
At Phoenix Academy, students are taught how to use a wide range of software and devices, preparing them to navigate the digital world both effectively and safely. Our focus on e-safety is reinforced throughout the curriculum, ensuring that pupils understand how to stay safe online and act with integrity. In addition to technical skills, we promote collaboration and teamwork, both in digital and physical settings, preparing our students to communicate and work effectively in any environment.
Our vision is for every student at Phoenix Academy to develop a passion for technology, understanding its relevance to the modern world, and to leave our school as confident, informed, and ethical users of technology, ready to tackle the opportunities and challenges of the future.
