Religious Education (RE)

At Phoenix Academy, our Religious Education (RE) curriculum is centred on fostering an inclusive and reflective learning environment. We recognise the importance of equipping students with the knowledge and understanding of diverse religious traditions, beliefs, and practices, which is essential in today’s multicultural society. The curriculum aims to build empathy, respect, and a sense of shared humanity among our pupils.

The RE curriculum at Phoenix is structured to provide students with an in-depth exploration of various world religions, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Sikhism. Through this exploration, students develop a greater awareness of global diversity, gaining insight into the religious and cultural dimensions that shape individuals and communities. This broad perspective helps prepare students for life in a globally connected world, fostering an attitude of respect and open-mindedness.

Furthermore, the curriculum strongly emphasises philosophical inquiry and ethical reasoning, encouraging students to engage with questions about the nature of belief, morality, and existence. By confronting these big questions, students are empowered to think critically, reflect on their values, and develop the skills to understand different viewpoints and moral frameworks.

At Phoenix Academy, we also recognise the role of RE in promoting personal development. The curriculum provides opportunities for students to develop spiritually, emotionally, and socially, supporting their overall growth as individuals. The RE curriculum nurtures well-rounded, considerate, and thoughtful individuals by encouraging self-reflection and respect for others' beliefs.
