Art
At Phoenix Academy, we place a strong emphasis on art as a critical component of our students' holistic development. Our art curriculum is designed to inspire creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking, providing every pupil with the opportunity to explore and develop their artistic abilities.
The curriculum is thoughtfully sequenced to provide a clear progression of knowledge and skills. Beginning in the Early Years, where students engage with basic artistic principles like colour, form, and texture, and progressing through to more complex concepts such as perspective, abstraction, and sculpture in the later years, we ensure that each pupil builds on their prior learning to reach their full potential.
In addition to honing technical skills in drawing, painting, and sculpture, our students are introduced to a diverse range of artists and artistic styles from different historical and cultural backgrounds. This approach not only broadens their understanding of art but also helps them to appreciate its role in shaping the world around us.
At Phoenix Academy, we strive to ensure that art is accessible and engaging for all students. Our curriculum is inclusive and designed to cater to various abilities, ensuring that each child feels confident in expressing their individuality through art. Ultimately, our goal is for students to leave with both the technical skills and creative mindset to continue enjoying and exploring art long after they have left our academy.
